Tanya Goehring has been active as a photographer since 1997, combining her interests
in the surreal with studies in philosophy and art history. From 1999 to 2002 Tanya was a
member of technoculture collective <ST-C> [shrumtribe.com] and while in South Korea
from 2002-2004, she curated the "Inside from the Outside: Foreigners' Views
of Korea" exhibit at the Hanmaeum Cultural Center.

She has had text and images published in FRONT, FUSE, subTerrain and MIX magazines
(among others) as well as several independent projects online.
Tanya covered the Mutek Festival in Montreal in both 2001 and in 2006.

Tanya has a B.A. in Art History and Philosophy from the University of British Columbia.
She graduated in April 2007 from the Professional Photo-Imaging Program at Langara
College, where she was awarded two scholarships during her time there and a prize
for "Best Print" at her grad show. She was also the Chair of the grad show committee.

In September 2007, Tanya performed at the New Forms Festival as part
of the Beverage Dispensers Union (with Sara Gold and Trevor Jacobson). She performed a
live visual series to accompany live techno music. Tanya is currently collaborating with her life
partner, Trevor Jacobson, as The Play of Frogs. The two are a sound art and live visual team.
They will be performing at the Signal and Noise festival in April 2008.

Her work is showcased in the Creative Quarterly Journal of Arts and Design in their 2007 New
Talent Annual. Her work was also published as a winning competition entry in both the September
2007 issues of Applied Arts Magazine (Student Photography and Illustration Annual)
and Photo Life Magazine (Emerging Photographers). >>> more >
